Hello Old Friend

I have been gone so long.  I don't even know where to start.  But I must start somewhere so here goes.
I am going to start small.  Lucy is in second grade.  She is still so perfect and sweet.  She has the sweetest heart.  This morning she told her father that she doesn't know what she would do without him.  My heart melted.

Lately she says how much she misses the lake.  She is starting to be less shy and selling girl scout cookies has helped her with her assertiveness.  She is showing such confidence in school and brownies.  I am so proud of her.

She recently told me that she has good relationships with janitors.  I think that what she was telling me was that she is kind to all.  That was one of my most proud moments.  Raising good citizens is one the most important things I can do as a parent.

Emma is currently very into space and gravity.  The recent news about gravitational waves from 1.4 billion years ago has her very excited about space and Einstein's theory of relativity.  She gave a presentation in class yesterday and felt like she had a great day.  She is not a typical American teenager.  I was recalling when she was five years old and said to me that it bothered her that people said "God bless America".  She said that seemed very selfish of them to want God to just bless America.  She wanted to know if there was a world flag we could fly.  She is still this child of the world.  Last Friday, she portrayed Malala Yousafzai in a play at school.  She has such an appreciation of the world and other cultures.  She has been turning her science experiments into sewing projects.  She turned her genetics experiment into a stuffed monster.

She also turned her atmosphere project into a pillow.

This winter we have been going to a burger joint and dancing to the jukebox.  This will forever be one of my favorite family memories.
